 Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with mixed feelings that I am writing to let you know about some temporary changes coming to Journey’s administration team. Starting Monday, October 1, I will be taking a district role as Acting Principal of Aboriginal Education for SD62. Andrea Millen, our current vice-principal, will become Acting Principal and Katrina Abell, a current grade 8 teacher, will be Acting Vice Principal of Journey. These changes will take place until January.

Both Ms. Millen and Ms. Abell are familiar with our school and community and I’m confident that they, along with our school staff, will continue to deliver the high quality educational leadership that you have come to expect from Journey Middle School.

I will personally work closely with Ms. Millen and Ms. Abell to ensure a smooth transition. Journey has an amazing group of students, families, teachers and support staff and we look forward to working with you and your children for the remainder of the year.  Ms. Abell will continue to work with her classes part-time during the next few months.  We will keep you updated regarding her replacement during the time she will be dedicating to her new role as VP.

Thank you for sharing your children with me and for your understanding and cooperation during this transition.  If you have any questions, please contact me, or Associate Superintendent Stephanie Hedley-Smith at 250-474-9800.

Sincerely,

Laurie Szadkowski, principal
