Welcome Former Journey Teacher and UVic Prof coming this week – We have Mr. Phil Duchene coming into Ms. Gitzel’s classroom Monday, October 16th for 2nd and 3rd block. He will be introducing a play called No Stepping Back that he helped to create, which is based on some of the suggestions from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Journey Spirit Wear coming next week so come see what we have JMS sweatshirts are $35.00 with or without a zipper and T-shirts for $15.00. We have red and black available and order forms if we don’t have your size. All Journey Wear is prepaid in adult sizes. Listen to announcements on Monday so you can come and get your Journey Swag! ALL CHEQUES PAYABLE TO SD62 PLEASE. Confidential orders can be placed with our office staff in time for gift giving in December.

PAC Update – Purdys Christmas Fundraising Program is already out and delivered to classes.   Extra forms are in the office and this fundraiser is one of the ways PAC funds your requests, please help by purchasing some delicious chocolate which also make great gifts.

Early Dismissal Friday – Please remind your child not to visit elementary schools when they are still in session. If they are picking up a younger student, we are happy to have them stay at Journey in the foyer or playground while they wait. 

Monday 

Spirit Week begins this week and today is Pajama Day. Role right out of bed and head to school (remember to eat breakfast and brush your teeth!) 

Lego Robotics Club 3:15-4:30 pm in Ms. Dvorak’s Room

Litter Pick Up – to keep our school grounds clean, the whole school will be out picking up litter this afternoon

X-Country Practice @ lunch today. Runners please meet Ms. Stannard @ Playground. Students need to let her know today if they are planning on attending the event on Wednesday.

Tuesday 

Spirit Week – JMS clothing and colours (black & red or rock it old school in blue & teal) 

The Power of Being a Girl – Registered students leave with Ms. Campbell at 8:45 and return at the end of day in time for buses. 

Division 18 Bake Sale and Rock your Locker fundraiser (magnets, stickers, bookmarks).  Bring your quarter, loonies and toonies and support the Red Cross and field trips.

Student Leadership Meeting  today in Mrs. Bridal’s room in Narnia Neighbourhood at lunch. Topics today are Halloween Dance and Spirit Week. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm and be a part of why People Run to be Here!

Tea in the foyer  every Tuesday students are welcome to come to the foyer for some herbal tea compliments of our Aboriginal Department.  Students are encouraged to bring their own mug. 

Edison Robotics Club – 3:15 -4:30 pm in Ms. Dvorak’s room.

Homework Club for Ms. Dvorak’s students at lunch by appointment in your classroom

Sk8 Park – If you’ve brought in your waiver (available in the office) you are welcome to skate/scooter at lunch today.  This club is sponsored by Mr. Donegani (weather permitting). 

Wednesday 

Spirit Week – Twin Day or Triplet, you get the idea. Dress the same as your friend(s) and make sure to get your picture taken to be eligible for prizes 

Pizza Day @ lunch $3.50 per slice in the foyer 

Grade 7/8 Basketball Practice afterschool 

Final Cross-Country Meet @ JDF today afterschool.  Students/families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from event. 

Sk8 Park – at lunch today with Mr. Donegani (weather permitting).

Outdoor Club – listen for announcements about where to meet at lunch.  Remember to wear clothes to suit the weather

Thursday

Spirit Week – Sport Day (favourite team jersey, colours or uniforms) 

The Great BC Shakeout 10:19 – today we practice along with all British Columbians to Drop, Cover, Hold on

Grade 6/7 Girls Basketball practice 7:30 am

Grade 6/7 Boys Basketball practice @ lunch

Div. 11 Homework @ lunch by appointment
