Congratulations to grade six student Timothy B! Journey sent 12 students to the Skills Canada competition at Camosun College. We competed in the Sumo Robotics competition against 40 students from the South Island school districts. Since October 2015, these Journey students along with their sponsor Mr. Bedard and EMCS shop teachers, Mr. Royle and Ms. Zimmerman have been building robots out of metal and wood. Their hard work paid off and Timothy B. from Mme. Bouvier’s class won the Gold Medal. He beat 40 competitors and he now qualifies for the Provincial Championships in Abbotsford. Timothy is very excited and thrilled to be moving on to the Provincials and we wish him well as he represents us!

Journey to Japan – Fourteen students and four chaperones returned home on Wednesday after eleven days in Japan. Students stayed with host families in Natori and then took the Shinkansen (bullet train) down to Tokyo. This Friendship exchange has been happening at Journey since 2000 and we look forward to hosting students in Sooke next year.

April 14 – Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences from 1-3 (go to Links and click on P/T Interviews)and Open House from 5-7:30. You can register online beginning at 6 a.m. Monday morning.  Check out what’s been happening in our classrooms and school. Remember students will be dismissed at noon that day.

Closed Campus A reminder that we are a closed campus which means students must stay on the school grounds once they arrive at school. Former students need advanced permission from either Mr. Bedard or Mrs. Szadkowski if they want to visit the school and/or grounds.
