Power Outage on Friday – Thank you to the parents/guardians, grandparents, neighbours and friends who came by to pick up children during our power outage. We understand how disruptive it is to your day; however, we have to take our direction from our School Board Office when they make decisions for our safety. We haven’t seen two outages in two months since the school opened and hope this is the last of them for a while. Please always remember that your children are safe at school and we will always have staff at school to care for them. The positive side of this is that we are honing our dismissal procedures to make them run efficiently each time. A few things families can do: update who you have assigned to pick your child up, update your address and/or phone numbers if they have changed since the beginning of the year, understand that it takes time to sign out 478 students, and know the name of your child’s teacher.

Good Great News! – We have received some great news from our IT Department this week – A new (to us) Computer Lab will be installed over the Winter Break! Staff and students are looking forward to trying out new ideas on newer technology.

Thank you/Merci – to the Brooks Family for their donation of our biggest tree ever! Each year they donate a tree to our school from their Christmas Tree Farm on Whiffen Spit Road and our students decorate it with homemade ornaments. Thanks Quinton L. for taking on the job of Foreman of the Lights!

Presentation – A reminder that Journey is hosting guest speaker Dr. Kristin Buhr on Anxiety and Youth January 27th. She will present information that is relevant to some of the challenges facing our children today.  Journey is opening our school to all who are interested from 6 – 7 pm for parents, caregivers and educators. Please feel free to share this information with friends and enter the date into your 2016 calendar.
