Reflex Math – so many students, so close to reaching 100% accuracy. Remember you can access this program at school and at home.

Cross Country Team – Congratulations to our team who completed at Beaver Lake. Brody, Sara, Kyra, Samy, Oli and Maddy you represented yourselves and our school well. We are proud you are Journey Dragons!

Power of Being a Girl and We Day participants also represented themselves and our school well.  Thank you for being such strong ambassadors for Journey and our community of Sooke.

Tonight – Journey is selling refreshments at the Sooke Philharmonic Concert tonight at the Community Hall 7:30 – 9:30 pm. Tickets are $20 per adult and children are free. Tickets available at the door.

Monday

Halloween Dance Tickets – on sale today for $5 each – tickets will NOT be on sale on the day of the dance (Thursday).

PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST – Student Council invites individuals or divisional classes to create a jack-o-lantern to submit for our pumpkin carving contest.  Pumpkins will be due on Thursday, October 29 and will be placed on display for people to vote.  Winner will receive a prize!

Spook-a-gram sale – today at recess and lunch out of the kitchen.  Just $.50 each. Send a spook-a-gram to your friends! Delivery of spook-a-grams on Friday.

“CHESS, CHESS, CHESS”  – The Journey Chess Club is up and running. It meets every Wednesday at Lunch in the Project Room next to the Main Computer Lab with Mr. Bryan. The focus is on fun and learning the fine art of chess play. New chess beginners receive lessons while student chess masters look for new ways to polish their skills. To date we have had a wonderful turn out from all grades at Journey (usually there are 20 plus students participating each Wednesday) and students play each other in a calm, kind and non-competitive environment.

Exploratory – bring all your necessary equipment (ie: proper clothing, bike, helmet, sense of adventure, change of clothing etc.)

Gamers’ Club meets today lunch in the Main Computer Lab

Mindstorm Robotics Club meets today after school from 3:05-4:15 in the Project Room

Jazz Band meets today at lunch in the Band Room

Halloween Dance Tonight – Come and join in the fun from 6:30-8:30 pm. Dress up and enjoy dancing and hanging out with friends. Tickets will not be sold today and students must be in attendance all day to attend. Students are encouraged to bring a can of food for the food bank — WE Scare Hunger food drive for the Sooke Food Bank.

There will be prizes for:

  • Best make-up
  • Most scary
  • Most funny
  • Most creative
  • Most realistic
  • Cutest
  • Most traditional
  • Most original
  • Best homemade costume

Activities during the dance:

Photo booth, using a green screen, with backgrounds being added in via Photoshop (cost $1)

Fishing booth where students fish with a magnet and there are a variety of cards with prizes listed.  Pick the card and get the prize accordingly.

Guess the item (reach in and try to figure out the item) ($0.50)

PAC Dance food is pizza- $3 per slice, ice cream, chips, cookies, drinks $.50-$2.00.  Glow items $1-$2

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

Journey’s Halloween Dance is coming up on Thursday from 6:30-8:30. PAC is looking for volunteers to help out with concession and glow sales. Anyone wanting to help out please email Teresa mason92@telus.net

If you have one hour a month on Wednesday’s at lunch and would like to help with our hot lunch please contact Ken pacdad2@gmail.com

Lunch Punch Cards are for sale in the school office for $20. The cards have increments of $.50-$2.00 and will be punched as the student spends. For more information please email Teresa at mason92@telus.net.
