This Week @ Journey May 20-June 3

Journey Musical Theatre – JMS and EMCS Musical Theatre present “Highway 80″ at EMCS on June 8, 9 and 10 at 7 pm at EMCS. $10 Tickets on sale at Journey, EMCS and Shoppers. A special performance for Journey students will be on June 9 at 9:30 am. Thanks to PAC for sponsoring the buses.

Thank you also to PAC for funding UVic Science Venture at Journey. Several classes signed up for a Workshop: ‘Bits and Bytes’ – a hands-on workshop on how computers think. UVic Engineering students showed students how computers think using mini computers called Arduinoes and simple circuits. Very FUN and EDUCATIONAL.

Fundraiser for Fort McMurray!! Thank you to Mrs. Hull for organizing the bottle drive and to all our staff, students and parents who help out to make this a success. Journey students and staff have been busy demonstrating how much Journey Cares.  Mrs. Wien’s class bake sale made $155.00 which the PAC matched making their total $310.00 dollars. Our Life Skill Tea Trolley made $35.00 also matched by the PAC, $70.00. Journey PAC bottle drive $398.00.  Journey is proud to give $778.00. We are sending our donation to a Fort McMurray school and student and/or families are welcome to send a letter along with our donation. Students helping students – what a team! Thanks for support.

PAC Meeting-The last PAC meeting of the year is June 14^th at 7pm in the Journey Library.

Monday

Dragon’s Den Writing Club – at lunch in the project room.

Grade 7s please take your veggies/fruit for Pit Cook directly to the kitchen or give to your teacher.

Tuesday

Pit Cook – All day event for all of our grade seven students. If you have forgotten to bring in your vegetable or fruit, please bring it Monday. We are honoured to have Pacheedaht Chief Jones, Beecher Bay Chief Russ Chipps and T’Sou-ke Chief Gordon Planes attend this year.

Student Council Meeting – today at lunch in Mme. Abell’s classroom.

Culture Club – cancelled today because of Pit Cook.

Thursday

Jazz band from 8:30-9:25 in the Band Room

All grade 8s will be walking to EMCS in the morning to take part in a welcoming Fun Day. Students will catch a school bus back to school in time for Exploratories.

Track Meet @ UVic – Mrs. Barnes will be taking some of our athletes to UVic today for the middle school finals. Go Dragons, Go!
