Literacy Week at Journey Middle School
February 2–6, 2026
Dear Families,
We are excited to celebrate Literacy Week at Journey Middle School from February 2–6, 2026! Throughout the week, students will take part in a variety of engaging, school-wide activities designed to inspire a love of reading and strengthen literacy skills.
What’s Happening During Literacy Week?
Students will be invited to participate in several fun activities, including:
- Daily DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read): A school-wide pause each day to enjoy reading.
- Daily Literacy Trivia: Short, fun questions to spark curiosity and deepen students’ literary knowledge.
- Literacy Week Reading Challenge: Encouraging students to set goals and explore new books.
- Staff Member Mystery Biography Contest: Students read clues to guess which staff member each mystery biography describes.
These activities are designed to build excitement around reading, promote literacy across all subjects, and highlight the joy of exploring books.
How Families Can Support
We encourage you to talk with your student about Literacy Week and ask them about the activities they’re participating in. Your conversations and support at home help make these activities even more meaningful.
Thank you for helping us foster a strong culture of reading at Journey Middle School!
