Santa Parade Sunday beginning at 5 pm. The route goes from Sooke Elementary to Eustace Road. Our very own Percussion Band is marching in the parade – come out and see them and their new Journey banner!
Tour de Rock send us a lovely card thanking all students, staff and families who supported their ride this year. It’s a great feeling contributing to such a fantastic cause for children fighting cancer. Together we are making a difference.
Monday
Term 2 begins today – Students will go to their new MAD and Applied Skills rotations
Lucky 7 begins today! Ms. Lennox’s class has been collecting new and gently used items to “raffle off” (not really a raffle because every ticket wins something) to help raise money for the Food Bank. Students can purchase 5 tickets for $1. Every ticket with a 7 in the number will win a corresponding prize. Tickets without 7s will win a smaller prize. There are over 500 big prizes to be won!
Great Milne’s Landing Food Fight – also begins today and runs until December 15. Each year the elementary schools and Journey participate in a Food Fight for our local Food Bank. Last year Sooke Elementary won (it’s based on a per capita count) and we are determined to take them out this year. Of course in the end it’s always the Food Bank that wins! Each day an item will be announced on the PA and each class has the chance to win extra food for their division. The Food Bank helps people right here in our wonderful community and all items are gratefully accepted. Items they are especially looking for this year are: baking goods (chocolate chips/raisons, flour, baking powder etc.); spices; granola bars and fruit cups; and jam/marmalade/honey.
