School News: 

Sooke Food Bank – Journey has a tradition of collecting thousands of items to donate to the food bank every December, but regulations prevent us from doing so this year.  The Sooke Food Bank has put out a request to each student and staff member at Journey to at least 50 cents each to help at this time.  Please send any donation to your child’s classroom teacher and we will pass on the donation.  You can also donate through EMCS sd62.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/670/137/false/true?fundDestination=10%2C000%20Tonight%20Food%20Drive%20-%20EMCS%20Family

Daily Health Check – please remember to follow the DHC and not send your child to school if they are not well.  If a student becomes unwell at school they will wait for pick up in our Supervision Room which is sanitized between guests.  Up to two students can be in the room at one time (physically distanced and masked). 

Masks – please continue to provide and remind your child to bring a mask to school each day.

Movember:  Mr. Vine, Mr. Donegani and Mr. Schorer have been inspiring students and staff with some pretty funny videos and throwing out a fundraising challenge.  We hear Mr. Van Hooydonk will be sporting a pretty funny design this week!  You can still donate cash or online for this great cause towards Men’s Health; “Movember” https://ca.movember.com/mospace/14433721

Intermurals:  Thank you to Mr. Vine for organizing and teachers for supervising intermural activities during their lunch break!  Listen to announcements!

Yearbook – If your child is on, or was, remote learning and missed picture day have the opportunity to submit a picture digitally to Ms. Wiens at dwiens@sd62.bc.ca.  If you have not signed the permission form or you have signed that your child does not have permission, they will be guaranteed NOT to be in the yearbook.

Donate your extra Cribbage Boards.  Students in Div. 5 & 6 are learning to play Crib. If you have an extra Crib board that you are willing to donate to our class, please have your child drop them off at the office this week.

Monday 

Zones – Morning: students may go to any zone.  Must always wear a mask and physically distance when possible.  Recess and Lunch: zones rotate today.  Masks are not required when in cohort zone but must be used when travelling to and from zone.

Individual pizzas from Boston Pizza.  Wednesday, Dec. 9^th.  Cheese, Pepperoni, or Hawaiian options with the availability of gluten free crust and/or dairy free cheese for those who need it. Order forms have gone home or order online through School Cash Online.  Thank you to our clerical team of Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Crocker for going above and beyond to make this happen for our students!
