This Week @ Journey February 10-14

Our Girl’s Volleyball Team did it again!! The girls won 5 out of their 6 sets tonight. They beat SMUS in straight sets (2-0), and they beat Spencer in straight sets as well (2-0). In their third game they played Dunsmuir where they lost the first set 29-27 (games go to 25 but you have to win by 2, the set was that close). In the second set against Dunsmuir they won 25-19! When schools split the two sets, the match is determined by point differentially thus leaving our girls with the WIN and putting them into #1 in the LIMSSA Competitive Girls League!!! It was incredible to watch 🙂 maybe we should start planning where we can hang some banners in our school. 

GearBot Jamboree – On Friday Journey hosted the SD62 Middle School GearBot Jamboree with students competing from Journey, Spencer, and Dunsmuir Middle Schools. Thanks to our teachers, Ms. Dvorak and Ms. Wallace for hosting and coaching our Dragon teams to qualify for the Regionals in March! 

Reminder about cell phone and other electronic devices – all non-school electronic devices must be switched off between bells (this includes recess and lunch). Staff will remind students and will turn device into the office the first time and the student can pick it up afterschool. If the student forgets again, a parent or guardian will need to pick it up in the office.

Scent Free – We work hard to keep our air fresh and clean at Journey. Custodians use scent free products when cleaning, team jerseys and towels/aprons in our Foods program are all laundered with scent free detergent. We have several students and staff who are greatly affected by scented products. Please remind your child to avoid wearing and/or spraying scented products at school.

Welcome Ms. Lauren Kurbis. Ms. Kurbis will be teaching in Mr. Sulzen’s classes until his return. We appreciate the professional dedication Ms. Marina McClintock has given the class. Ms Kurbis’s first day will be Monday and Ms. McClintock’s last day will also be Monday as we transition the teachers.

Complograms will be on sale for Valentine’s Day beginning today, .50 cents each. Purchase complograms to send to friends – delivered Thursday to classrooms. Bonus at no extra cost – each sale includes a ticket for a Minnie Mouse stuffy and other prizes. See display in the foyer. Winners announced on Thursday at lunch.
