Remembrance Assembly – Journey staff and students organized and participated in a moving and respectful assembly of remembrance. We honoured all our veterans, past and present, as well as our military members currently serving our country. Our band, drumline, choir, cadets, and student speakers and presenters were exceptional in their duties and performances. Special guest speakers, Veteran Mr. Ken Levert, and Pacheedaht Elder, Mr. Bill Jones both spoke passionately about the importance of why we take time to remember each year.

Thanks to Role Models Jo-Ina Young and Earl Claxton Jr. for coming to Journey. Elder Earl Claxton Jr. was in Mr. Quint’s grade 6 class and they went down to DeMamiel Creek and learned about the Salish Moons and Salmon teachings. Jo-Ina Young brought her teachings to the Indigenous Art exploratory and students learned how to make Medicine Bags.

Journey will be holding a Movember fundraiser to raise money for Men’s Health that will start at the end of November. This will be run by Division 11. In the meantime, participating some staff at Journey may look scruffier and scruffier over the next few weeks prepping to style their moustaches for the fundraiser in the last week of November.

Reminder about Student-Lead Conferences – November 20 4:30-7:30 p.m. in your child’s classroom. FAST teachers will also be available at different times throughout the evening. November 21 – early dismissal at 11:58 a.m.
