This Week @ Journey May 29-June 2

Staffing Update –  We are pleased to welcome/welcome back Mr. Chris McLeod to our Journey Staff for next year. Mr. McLeod will be teaching grade 8. We would also like to welcome Ms. Paula Leach who will be joining our school as an Integration/Behaviour Support teacher next year. Ms. Leach is relocating from Saskatchewan to become our newest Dragon.

Wildlife Alert – It’s great to live where we do; however, sometimes we have close encounters with wildlife. A cougar was seen several times near Journey and at Poirier on the weekend. Please remind your children to be mindful as they go to and from school.

The PAC is holding an Online Auction on Facebook and you are invited! The money raised will go towards our much needed emergency preparedness preparations.

Anyone can bid. Just click that you will be attending the “Online Auction for Journey Middle School” on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/2234649040094230).

EMCS and Journey Musical Theatre, Art and Film present… “Time Flies’

Can we learn valuable lessons from the past? Come see how a female riveting team from the 1940’s help passengers and staff get through a sticky situation. Time Flies is an original story by EMCS and Journey Musical Theatre and runs June 7-9  at 7 PM

Tickets are available at EMCS, Journey Middle School and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Monday

Reminder to all grade 7 students to bring the veggie they have been asked to bring for the Pit Cook tomorrow.

Tuesday

Jazz Band practice in the morning

Pit Cook – All students in grade 7 will participate in our annual Pit Cook today. Building the fire, cooking the veggies/salmon and rotating through stations will happen through the day concluding with a feast in the afternoon. We look forward to welcoming elders and special guests. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Wednesday 

Mr. Hopkins retires today! After 20 plus years at Journey, Mr. Hopkins is retiring from the job he loves. Mr. Hooydonk will teach Division 12 with Mr. Eldridge until the end of June.

Thursday

Exploratories – last Exploratory for this school year! Work habit marks will be reflected on your report card. Today we welcome Sooke Elementary grade 5 students for their transition visit.

Robotics Club is done for the school year. Sign up next year!

EMCS Fun Day – grade 8 students will visit EMCS today to take part in their Fun Day from 11:15-noon. Students will walk with their teachers to EMCS and return to Journey via school bus. Thanks to EMCS for the invitation!

Musical Theatre – Time Flies rehearsal afterschool at EMCS until 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 3 – congratulations to all of our former Journey students who will graduate today from EMCS. We were proud of you when you attended Journey and extremely proud of you today as you walk across the stage at UVic and into the next exciting chapter of your life.
