Journey Update: Thank you for your support making and purchasing cupcakes last week. Division 2 raised $453 for the SPCA

Staffing Update – Mr. Richard Hopkins will be retiring on June 1. Mr. Hopkins has been teaching at Journey for over 20 years and we thank him for his dedication to our students and wish him a happy retirement. Mr. Brandon van Hooydonk will be teaching with Mr. Eldridge in the class until the end of June. Congratulations to Ms. Sue Kilpatrick and Mr. Thom Constable who have chosen to take teaching positions at Dunsmuir and Spencer respectively. We thank them and wish them well as they continue working with students in our District.

Facilities Update – Our gym is currently being painted and our floors are scheduled to be refinished in the summer. Our Playground (thank you PAC) has been installed and the site should be completed by the end of next week (thanks to our Grounds Department).

Updated Logo – our Journey Dragon Logo has undergone a facelift. Thank you to our teachers Ms. Clarke, Ms. Harris and Mr. Elm and to local artist Charlene George for their hard work and creativity.

PAC Update: Congratulations to our President Elect, Ms. Caryn Drabitt, Vice-President Elect/Past President, Ms. Justine Duncan and thank you to Ms. Ericka MacTavish for continuing to be our secretary! We still have the position of Treasurer available if you’re interested.

The PAC is holding an Online Auction on Facebook and you are invited! The money raised will go towards our much needed emergency preparedness preparations.

Anyone can bid. Just click that you will be attending the “Online Auction for Journey Middle School” on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/2234649040094230).

Bidding starts on the 22nd of May.   Items will be added every day until June 5, 2017. If you have questions or wish to donate an item to the auction please email: Erika at erikas1977@shaw.ca.

Monday

Today students and staff will walk to Sooke Community Hall to participate in the Legacy 1 Presentation. We will walk to and from the event via Throup Road, Wadams Way, Otter Point to Eustace Road. We will leave at approximately 1 pm and return by 3 pm. 

Tuesday 

Bike Skills at SEAPARC Jump Track 1:00-4:00. Students who are participating will be bringing home information.

Jazz Band practice in the morning

Tea Time in Foyer – students can enjoy a free cup of tea today at recess. Students are encouraged to bring their own mugs.

Sk8 Park @ lunch – must have helmet and signed waiver form to participate 

Culture Club – meet at lunch outside Ab Ed room

Div. 9/10 Homework Club – Ms. Kilpatrick’s classroom at lunch

Divisions 1 & 2 Math Support – at lunch in Mr. Constable’s room

Div. 11 Math Club – after school 3-4 p.m. in Ms. Dvorak’s room

Wednesday

PAC Lunch – Sushi and Hotdogs

Sk8 Park @ lunch – must have helmet and signed waiver form to participate 

Student Council meets today at lunch

Thursday

Exploratories – remember equipment and proper clothing if needed. Work habit marks will be reflected on your report card. Today we welcome John Muir Elementary grade 5 students for their transition visit.

Robotics Club meets after school today 3:15-4:30 pm

Friday

EMCS Soccer Academy will be offering a workshop and demonstration today 12:00 – 1:30. Grade 8 students interested in joining next year can attend.

Bus Driver Appreciation Day – If you travel on a school bus remember to give an extra thank you to your bus driver today!
