This Week @ Journey February 13-17, 2017

This week may be a short one, but hopefully it is less hectic than last week! Thank you, as always, for sharing your most precious family members with us each day – your children.

Lost and Found – extended one week because of the weather! Please encourage your child to look in the lost and found bins for their clothing. The next load will be donated to charity on Friday, February 17.

Tuesday

Popcorn Sale @ lunch – Students involved in the Fundraising for Solar Panels Exploratory are selling Popcorn in the foyer (held over from last week’s SnowDay)

Dance Tickets on sale at lunch $5 (tickets are not sold at the door on the evening of the dance)

Grade 8 Girls’ volleyball practice 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Jazz band 8:30 a.m. in the band room.

Tea Time in Foyer – students can enjoy a free cup of tea today at recess. Students are encouraged to bring their own mugs. 

Culture Club – meet at lunch outside Ab Ed room

Wednesday – PAC Lunch today is Subway. Volunteers are always welcome to come and help. Please come to the main foyer at 11:30am if you can help.

Thursday

Exploratories – bring everything you need (especially those exploratories that often require a change of clothes – school is so much fun)

Robotics Club – Interested in learning more about Robotics? Come to Ms. Dvorak’s room afterschool today from 3-4 pm and have some fun!

Volleyball Practice – Jr. Boys 3-4 pm in the gym.

Gamers’ Club at lunch in the Main Lab

Jr. Boys’ Volleyball jamboree@ St. Joseph’s 3:45pm. Parent/guardian drivers are to meet players in the Journey foyer at 2:20pm on Thursday. Players will need to leave their exploratory early to join their rides. Go Dragons!

Masquerade ‘Snow’ Ball – tonight from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Doors open precisely at 6:30 pm. Tickets will not be available at the door and students must attend school today if they intend on coming to the dance. Parent support is needed for selling food, glow sticks and for set up. Please leave your name at the office or with a member of the PAC if you can help.

Friday

Carnival – Celebrate an important part of our Canadian Culture! 

9:00 – 10:00 – Staff vs Students Journey Hockey Game at Seaparc – attend and support our academy and fearless coach, Ross as he takes on former students now at EMCS.  No other carnival events are to run during this time.

10:15 – 12:00

Students and staff come back during recess and teachers assemble at their event. A “Guest book” sheet is at all events.  Students will circulate as they wish during this time.  We challenge students to sign as many guest books as possible as incentive to participate in as many events as possible. You can even take a selfie with Bon Homme!

Lunch – students will have the opportunity earlier in the week to sign up for the option to have poutine or fries for $5 from a local Food Truck.  Forms must be turned into the office, and all pre-orders are guaranteed their order. Students will eat lunch in their classrooms as usual.

Last Block – Neighbourhood/class Floats will assemble in the bus lane at 1:15 to have our parade down to Poirier. Winning floats will be announced at the end of the day!

Chess Club @ lunch in Mrs. Syme’s class – cancelled today because of Carnival.
