Makerspace Workshop for Grades 8 & 9

Dream It! Design It! Make It! Join the team from the University of Victoria’s Science Venture and Actua Canada’s MakerMobile as we celebrate the plans for Sooke Makerspace at Edward Milne Community School with a fun-filled Maker workshop for students in Grades 8 & 9. A chance to make, create and innovate at this two-hour after school workshop. Participants will learn the fundamentals of digital design to create two dimensional structures using a computer and laser cutter. Designs will vary in complexity from simple name tags to intricate 3D sculptures that celebrate Canadian inventions. Everyone will take home an artistic rendering of themselves, a past innovation, and a self-made innovation.
