Thank you/Merci/Hych’ka to the Brooks Family at Brooks Christmas Tree Farm for supplying our 33’ fir tree again this year! Come in and check it out. It actually touches the top of the ceiling in the foyer and smells incredible. It was quite a sight on Friday as staff and students accepted the challenge and raised the massive beauty. Students and staff will decorate it over the week.

It’s Spirit Week at Journey – each day has something happening. Thanks to our Student Council for helping us play and have fun!

Let it snow? We had 36% of our students attend school on Friday mainly because of the first snowfall of the season. With more inclement weather forecast for this week we will try and keep you as updated as possible about school closures. Listen to CFAX (AM 1070) or check Journey or SD62 website (we had some difficulty logging on to ours on Friday). As always, parents make the final decision about sending children to school even when the school has been declared open. Please remember to contact the school if you are having someone other than you, or your emergency contacts, pick up your child during school hours.

Monday

Spirit Week begins – Today is Pajama Day!

Lucky 7 ends today with an auction of items that have yet to be claimed. Bring some cash and get great bargains. Mrs. Lennox’s class has raised just over $600 for the Sooke Food Bank!

Great Milne’s Landing Food Fight – is going strong. So far Ms. Lennox’s class is in the lead ($1.00 = one item of food), but there are few classes in hot pursuit. Sooke Elementary is going to have to eat some crow this year because Journey is Food Fight Ready! Of course in the end it’s always the Food Bank that wins and nobody really wants to eat any crow! Each day an item will be announced on the PA and each class has the chance to win extra food for their division. We are helping the Food Bank by investing in people right here in our wonderful community and all items are gratefully accepted. Items they are especially looking for this year are: baking goods (chocolate chips/raisons, flour, baking powder etc.); spices; granola bars and fruit cups; and jam/marmalade/honey.
