Thank you/Merci/Hych’ka to our many volunteers who came out and made our Halloween Dance such a success! Together with staff and students the school took on a spooky feel that set the mood for the evening. Our student council organized the decorations, selling of tickets, and the creation of the much loved Haunted House!

Jack o Lantern Contest Winners: First Place – Sophia N. and Lane S. (tie); Second Place – Kylyn G.; Third Place – Paige S.

Lice is making the rounds at Journey. Please check your child’s hair and follow the procedures to help control the outbreaks and prevent infestation.

Monday

Happy Halloween –Students may wear costumes to school if they wish. Same rules apply – no clowns, no full masks, make-up on faces is okay if we can easily recognize you and no real or pretend weapons.

Field Trip – Mount Olympus and Utopia Neighbourhoods are going swimming at Commonwealth Pool today. Remember to bring what you need.

Spook o grams will be delivered to classrooms today. Thank you to all who purchased them for friends. A special thank you to one of our Journey families who wanted to thank all students for “running to be here”.

Tuesday

Grade 6/7 Boys’ Basketball practice 7:30 a.m. in the gym

Jazz band 8:30 a.m. in the band room.

Sk8 Club today @ lunch (weather permitting). Waivers must be in to Mr. Donegani or Mr. Kovacik to be eligible to participate (forms are in the office)

Div. 9/10 Homework Club – Ms. Kilpatrick’s classroom at lunch

Math Support – at lunch in Mr. Constable’s room for Divisions 1 & 2

Tea Time in Kitchen – students can enjoy a free cup of tea today at recess. Students are encouraged to bring their own mugs.

Grade 8 Boys’ B-Ball practice afterschool

Sooke Firefighters Presentation – Today Divisions 3, 4 & 5 learn the properties of fire and fire suppression, along with other areas of our local fire department’s skills and responsibilities. 

We Day Meeting – For all students going to We Day in Vancouver tomorrow meet @ Lunch in Ms. Wien’s room.

Thursday

Exploratories – Remember to bring everything you need and that students are expected to take this course as much as any other.  Outdoor exploratories will be outside. We live on the Wet Coast – be prepared!

We Day – all students going to Vancouver with Ms. Wiens and Mme. Ouldali for today’s international We Day meet at school at 5 a.m. Buses will return to school at 7 p.m. Have fun and change the world!

Philosophy in the Foyer – There is a question posted on the bulletin board outside the Multi-Purpose Room. Student and staff have been asked, “Is it better to risk making a mistake or always going for what is safe?” Leave your opinion on the bulletin board anytime all week and then check out what’s happening at lunch on Friday!
