Terry Fox Run and Cops for Cancer

September 30, 2015

Wednesday is Terry Fox National School Run Day. Over 9000 schools are participating this year and Journey Middle School is one of those schools who continue to keep Terry’s dream alive. The Tour de Rock is also coming to Sooke that day!

Schedule for the day:

Prizes will be awarded to the two fastest female and male runners, top student fundraiser, and divisional fundraiser.

9:15 a.m. – Students who want to run will be called to the bus zone first, and then classes will be called by Neighbourhood.  Mr. Bedard will begin the Run with a “sound” from the megaphone. Students and staff will begin the run down Throup, Wadams Way, Otter Point, Helgesen, Church, Arranwood, by Poirier to finish at Journey (map is available under links). Staff will be placed strategically throughout the route. Please go over appropriate behaviour in a community – representing Journey and Terry Fox etc.

Students will have access to the gym and outdoor playground equipment when they finish. Students and staff should be back for the head shaving for Cops for Cancer at 11:15 a.m. We will announce the top fundraisers and runners at this assembly.

Cops for Cancer – Classes will begin to line up at 1:30 p.m. along Charters Road with Sooke Elementary to cheer on the Tour de Rock riders as they come by. Some may stop to chat. Poirier will line Throup as riders make their way to John Muir School. Donations can be given to each classroom teacher or the office. Signs and cheers are encouraged. It should be quite a welcome and families are welcome to attend.

Thank you for keeping Terry’s dream alive

and supporting the Tour de Rock!
