Royals Hockey – “District Day with the Victoria Royals” on Friday, January 29. This will be a fun event for families and friends of all SD62 staff and students to go watch a Victoria Royals hockey game for only $9, show some school/District spirit and have fun! No need to register unless you are changing schools. Grade 5 students coming are automatically transferred and grade 8s going to EMCS are also automatically transferred. Registering on paper is also available at the school. If you want your child to attend a school outside of their catchment you must fill out the transfer form.

Monday

Dragon’s Den Creative Writing Club at lunch in Main Computer Lab

Organic Herbal Tea – as part of our Aboriginal Education Program we will be serving tea in the foyer to any and all students who are interested at recess and lunch all week (while supplies last). Thanks to our AbEd Support Staff!

Tuesday

Culture Club today in the Kitchen at lunch. Today is beading and sewing – everyone is welcome.

Student Council Meeting – today at lunch in Mme. Abell’s classroom. Make a difference at Journey – share your ideas.

Presentation – Ms. Lennox’s class will have a presentation on Suicide Awareness today at 1 pm

Presentation – Box of Treasures presentation in Ms. Johnston’s class today to get them ready for their field trip to the museum.

Assembly – 11 am today. Remembrance Day poster and essay winners will be presented with their certificate and prize money. We also have a Football presentation to let students know what’s new in Sooke.

Wednesday

Chess Club – The Journey Chess Club meets today in the Project Room at lunch with Mr. Bryan.

PAC Food Day – Subway today. Drinks and other goodies also for sale

Sumo-Bot Club is cancelled today. The club will resume its regular schedule next week.

Jr. Girls’ Volleyball practice afterschool today until 4 pm

Journey tonight – 6:00 to 8:00 pm – free presentation Is your child struggling with anxiety? Worrying about everything? Avoiding things? Parents are invited to hear Dr. Kristin Buhr, Registered Psychologist and director at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic.  Get tips on helping your child develop a healthy foundation, deal with difficult emotions, face challenging situations, learn to tolerate uncertainty, and build resilience.

Royals Hockey Game tonight – see you there!

Saturday Night – The Harmony Project Kick-off Concert is tonight in our gym. This program originated in Las Angles and is now coming to Sooke. It offers students an opportunity to learn from world renowned musicians and is being offered to students in grades 2 & 3 for Strings and Drumline for middle school aged students.
