Hello/Goodbye/Congratulations! – Monday Mrs. Grania Bridal, a long-standing member of our Journey Team, was awarded the position of Vice-Principal at Ecole Poirier. Mrs. Bridal has been working toward this new position; however, we were all caught a little off guard when it happened so quickly. We happy to welcome back Ms. Brenda Bertucci who was the successful applicant for Mrs. Bridal’s class and Divisions 3 & 5. Ms. Bertucci completed her practicum at Journey with Mrs. Bridal and we are pleased to welcome her back! On Friday, it was announced that we are also having to say goodbye and congratulations to Mrs. Katrina Ouellette who has been a member of our team for several years as an Educational Assistant. She also has been working toward a new position and will be moving to Millstream Elementary this week to take on the role of Youth and Family Counsellor. Their new schools are excited to have them bring their knowledge and enthusiasm to their new jobs and we thank them for making Journey a place people run to be.

Late French Immersion for next year – Unfortunately we did not have enough students/parents interested in Late French Immersion for next year’s grade six class and cannot offer the program. We will continue to have Early Immersion for grade 6-8.

Rugby Coach’s Corner with Mr. Hart: Another week of rugby has come and gone and the villagers in Town are all whispering about ferocious Dragons roaming the coastline. Our girls’ rugby team dashed, smashed and crashed through another scrum of opponents and continued to build on our early season success. Coach Federici has been warned to drink lots of tea to keep her pipes fresh for cheering, as she is starting to lose her voice from celebrating so many tries! The girls are excited to take their blazing style of rugby to Glanford this coming Wednesday.

Trying to keep pace with the reputation of the Girls’ rugby team, our Boys’ showed why they are a gruesome crew of ruggers. Our Dragon’s hosted this past week and after going shot for shot with Glanford’s first team, they decided to open their peanut butter jar of pain and share it with Glanford’s second squad. The boys welcomed three new players this week and hope to build on our momentum next Wednesday when we travel to Royal Oak.

If your child is interested in joining the Dragon Clan for the remainder of the season, they should see Mr. Hart ASAP and pick up a waiver form. We wish both our teams luck on the rest of the season.
