Find Your Fit travels to each school district in BC and Thursday Journey hosted our district’s Find Your Fit. Our students, along with grade 8s from Spencer and John Stubbs had the opportunity to find out a little more about how their interests and skills may translate into a career. We are pleased to report that we broke the attendance record for visits from 3-7 p.m.

Literacy Club – some very keen students have started a literacy club at Journey. Watch for posters and/or listen to the announcements regarding meeting times and locations.

Ms. Stannard reports that great work was accomplished by the Grade 6 Capoeristas! The moves, the rhythm and the acrobatics may have made us sore but we got to experience a bit of distant Brazil and their sunny rainforest on a rainy day. Thanks again to PAC for sponsoring and to Julie Budgen and Rene Chamberlain for facilitating. Capeoria is run in Sooke out of Sooke 24-hour Fitness.

Mr. Donegani reports that Grade 6/7 girls have their first game on Tuesday, January 30th at Journey MS, and grade 8 girls have a game on Wednesday, January 31st at Journey MS. Practices for the girls teams will be together, and will be Tuesdays after school from 3-4pm (only grade 8s when the gr. 6/7s play on a Tuesday), and Wednesdays at lunch. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Donegani (ndonegani@sd62.bc.ca). Rides for the away games require parent involvement, so please make sure to talk to the office about organizing the documents required to transport students.

Late French Immersion Parent Info Meeting was held last week and there is interest in having a class next year. Eighteen students are needed for this program to be offered in September 2018. Parents and children do not have to speak French to be eligible for this opportunity. If you would like more information please check the website and/or contact Mrs. Szadkowski for more information. We will be accepting registrations until the end of February.
